The Sims, They Are A Coming…
Published May 3rd, 2008The word domination plan continues on schedule as Artificial Isle readies it’s latest expansion. The real area of available land/sea/air will be increased by 150% with the addition of three OpenSpace sims, due to be delivered in about a weeks time (Assuming no further setbacks from Linden Lab). As you can see from the graphical representation below there will be a water sim north of Artificial Isle, two small islands to the west and a peninsula and bay to the south.
We’ll be using this additonal property to great benefit, not only increasing the capacity for events in the Artificial Isle estate but also expanding just what sort of events are possible. There are plans for a small experiment in residential islands in the western sim, and the southern one will play home to a newly launching sports association focusing on a broad range of activities, not just one sporting genre. The northern sim will be open ocean though it will hold a surprise…
Connected to the north will be a conglomeration of six cooperating estates and well over 80 sims, that’s in excess of 4,000 acres. This conglomerate of estate owners is known as the United Sailing Sims, and they have a focus on sailing and other outdoor activites on their land and oceans and Artificial Isle has was invited to join.
This is a great boon for us as the USS brings with it all the posatives of being connected to the mainland with few of the negatives. There are no ugly builds, casinos or lag-tastic malls, it’s pristine ocean, islands, golf courses and homes. The other estates conduct their own businesses and events just as Artficial Isle does and we’ll try to work in tandem whenever possible but Ai is still autonomous and free to run events as we see fit so long as they do not encroach on the other properties. This should not prove to be much of a problem as before it was impossible to do so, where before one would be greated with the ede of the world now lies open seas.
We have great plans and hopes for this “merging” as it were, there will be little change to the operations and daily life on Ai, we hope you’ll enjoy the direction we’re taking the property. There’s been a writeup about this on the SLSailing.Com Blog.
