Today marks the third and final day of the May 2008 Second Convention. We start off the day at 1pm with sailboat racing on the new triangle course in the ZATZAi sim, great for those new to sailing in Second Life. Chaos Koala will be DJing during the race and then at 3pm it’s time for the Whispers fashion show with outfits from Belissima, Nuclear Boutique, Nyte ‘N’ Day and shoes by Polish Up. During the fashion show there will be a special presentation of Radio Free Darkmere syndicated across the SecCon satellite locals. The convention closes with a live music performance by Joaquin Gustav at 7pm.

The first day of SecCon has come and gone, but there is lots in store for today. Today the convention starts off at 1pm with a live two hour performance by musical stylings of musician harpo Jedburgh at the Oceanside club. Followed by bouts of the original Tugby game (Which is like soccer with tugboats) in the Gregory sim at 3pm. Then at 5pm there will be a live panel discussion with Cristiano Midnight, Joshua Nightshade andZATZAi Asturias on Net Neutrality at Canvas in Artificial Isle. The day with close at 7pm with one more panel discussion focusing on the future of the Second Life Grid, both from Linden Lab and from third parties with Adam Zaius from the Open Life Grid.

All times are PDT/SLT, and the panel discussions will done over Skype and streamed into Second Life, though you can listen in through Winamp to either harpo or the panel discussions if you can’t get in world. Should the Artificial Isle sim reach maximum capacity you can listen at either of the satellite locations, in Hollywood or Darkmere, which will be syndicating the live stream.
Also don’t forget to visit the ongoing art exhibit at the Greenhouse Art Gallery in the Greenhouse sim, it’s open twenty-four hours a day. If you wish to attend any events know that the convention is open to all and there is no admission fee, just arrive early as sim capacity is limited. For better or for worse, today marks the return of Second Convention, a virtual convention for a virtual world. Centered in Artificial Isle with satellite locations; at the Hollywood Bowl in the Hollywood sim and at Darkmere in the Clearwing sim; rebroadcasting the live stream. The highlight of today’s activities would of course be the Slebrity roast of Marktwain White, a tall figure in the sailing community ripe for toppling.

During the convention there will be live music performances by harpo Jedburgh and Joaquin Gustav as well as DJs Chaos Koala, Tazzie, Tuque, Chelle Moore and a special syndication of Lucifer Baphomet and Radio free Darkmere. Discussion panels on net neutrality and the future of the SL Grid or grids as the case may be will also be held as well as a presentation of the Whispers Fashion show featuring works by Bellissima, Nuclear Boutique, Nyte ‘N’ Day and Polish Up. The word domination plan continues on schedule as Artificial Isle readies it’s latest expansion. The real area of available land/sea/air will be increased by 150% with the addition of three OpenSpace sims, due to be delivered in about a weeks time (Assuming no further setbacks from Linden Lab). As you can see from the graphical representation below there will be a water sim north of Artificial Isle, two small islands to the west and a peninsula and bay to the south.
We’ll be using this additonal property to great benefit, not only increasing the capacity for events in the Artificial Isle estate but also expanding just what sort of events are possible. There are plans for a small experiment in residential islands in the western sim, and the southern one will play home to a newly launching sports association focusing on a broad range of activities, not just one sporting genre. The northern sim will be open ocean though it will hold a surprise…
